I don't normally post teasers about things I'm working on for the CoCGMS but I thought I'd mention this one to give potentially users of the app something to look forward to.
The next release of the CoCGMS will incorporate player character templates (as well as NPC and Monster templates). This will allow you to roll up characters very quickly as needed. All good game management apps like Byakhee and Hero Labs can do this but the approach taken by the CoCGMS is a little different. In the stat fields and player addition fields for skills, you'll be able to specify any dice roll value or straight numeric range to apply during creation of a character via template. Meaning, you can have something like 1d6 + 12 as the value for Strength on a character template labeled "Navy Seal : Advanced". When the template is deployed, the CoCGMS will run through all stats and skill reference and calculate the final stat value.  If you want to be more basic, you can even just specify a numeric range like 16-18 (which is also 1d3 + 15) and the CoCGMS will randomize the finally value between the low and high.
This approach will let you create highly customizable templates that will produce specific stat and skill values within needed ranges for all elements of a character. I'm going to try and create a good number of player character templates to include in the next CoCGMS release. If you have any suggestions for player character types, please let me know! |

I am re-Mac'ed! Â Now that I'm styling with a brand new Mac Mini I've been able to compile the latest CoCGMS for all your Mac folks. Â It is available in the downloads area now. Â Unfortunately it looks like the new runtime compiler for FileMaker 11 for the Mac has a larger file format than previously. Â The CoCGMS v1.41 for Mac is almost 70 megs but well worth the download.
Check out the latest screenshots for v1.41 via the "CoCGMS Image" link on the main menu. Â All screenshots were taken on a PC but the layouts and functionality on the Mac are identical. |

Hello all!
Version 1.42 of the CoCGMS is ready for download. Check out the CoCGMS History link on the main menu for complete feature details.
One of the features available in this version is custom dice roll sets. Custom dice roll sets allows you to create nearly any time of dice roll you need to run your game. This might be in the form of a standard roll like 5d6 + 10 or a list of some sort like character names or items a player might find. You can now build lists of things and let the CoCGMS randomly choose an item for you.
The Main Menu has also been trimmed down and streamlined for a more concise flow. All dice rolling content has been moved off into its own area.
Download it and check it out. As always, it's a completely free gaming util. |

Fellow CoC Keepers!
Version 1.41 of the CoCGMS for Windows is available for download. Check the CoCGMS History link on the main menu to see what updates are encompassed in this release. If you have already downloaded the CoCGMS v1.40 you can simply download the update file that is posted as well and overwrite your existing CoCGMS.usr file to update.  If you have existing content in your CoCGMS place your current copy of the CoCGMS into export mode, move the currect cocgms.usr file to a safe location and place the v1.41 update in the application directory. Then, simply use the Import option on that Main Menu to point to and import your previous data into the new copy.
I'm still trying to build the Mac version of the CoCGMS. My Mac has died and I'm trying to locate a replacement so I can continue to provide both the Mac and Windows versions of the CoCGMS. Until then, I can only generate the Windows version. Sorry all you Mac-heads.
Let me know if anyone finds any issues or has any comments!
